The Mistletoe Apprenticeship Program requires successful completion of the Fundamental Best Practices of Mistletoe Therapy & Integrative Oncology Course offered by PAAM, and is by application only. We are not currently accepting new applications.

Goal of the Apprenticeship Program: Our goal is to develop a core group of licensed medical prescribers working proficiently with mistletoe to support their oncology patients and themselves. Over the course of the program, we will explore the deeper emotional, clinical, spiritual, and scientific aspects of practice with mistletoe, Anthroposophic medicines and metabolic medicine.

Online Group Mentoring Sessions: Sessions will take place via Zoom on Tuesday evenings (see dates below), starting at 8pm Eastern Time/5pm Pacific Time and concluding at 9:30pm Eastern /6:30pm Pacific. Sessions will be recorded and posted to a private group on the Anthroposophic Medicine Mighty Network. They will remain available for viewing until at least Dec 31, 2024. Participants must attend at least 80% of the live sessions to be considered to receive a Certificate of Training at the conclusion of the program. Participants are expected to review the recordings of any missed sessions, but the review of recordings is not a substitute for attending the live sessions.

Dates:
Spring 2024 Sessions: Tuesdays: Mar 12, Mar 19, Apr 16, Apr 23, May 7 and May 14
Fall 2024 Sessions: Tuesdays: Oct 8, Oct 20, Nov 5 and Nov 12

Format: Each session will begin with a short presentation on the main topic and will then be followed by case presentations and discussion. All participants are required to prepare and submit one case presentation over the course of the program. A format for case presentations will be provided by the program faculty. All participants must submit a case, but case presentation within the group mentoring sessions is optional. Participants are strongly encouraged to offer a brief (10-minute) presentation of their prepared case to the group during the live sessions.  The format and topics are subject to change as per the faculty leaders.

Prerequisites and Application to the ProgramParticipation in the Mistletoe Apprenticeship Program requires a course of training with at least 1000 hours of biomedical classes (including anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnostics and therapy), as well as current state licensure to prescribe medicines: Medical Doctor (MD), Osteopathic Doctor (DO), Naturopathic Doctor from an accredited naturopathic college (ND), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or Dentist (DDS).

Completion of the Program: It is our intention to provide adequate and thorough training based on current research, best practices, and the knowledge and expertise of the program faculty.

In order to receive a Certificate of Training at the conclusion of the Mistletoe Apprenticeship Program, the following requirements must be met:

  • Successful completion of the Fundamental Best Practices of Mistletoe Therapy & Integrative Oncology Course
  • Live attendance of at least 10 of the 12 mentoring sessions
  • Submission of one case report before Oct 31, 2024 (prepared per the guidelines provided to participants)
  • Demonstration of a working knowledge of mistletoe therapy as evaluated by the program co-directors.

Those who successfully complete the program will be added to the online Mistletoe Practitioner Directory being developed by PAAM. The Certificate of Training will also serve as initial documentation to begin the Believe Big vetting process for inclusion on their provider directory (https://www.believebig.org/for-practitioners/).

Cancellation Policy: By registering and paying for the Apprenticeship Program, participants have committed to the full 10 sessions of the program. Participants have until March 17, 2024 to submit a request to withdraw from the program and receive a full refund of the original registration fee, minus a $150 fee. Participants have until April 21, 2024 to withdraw from the program and receive a half-refund of the original registration fee, minus a $150 fee. We do recognize that unexpected life events happen, so requests for postponement (taking a “gap year”) may be considered on a case-by-case basis. These must be approved by the course director. All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to mistletoetraining@anthroposophicmedicine.org before April 21, 2024. No refunds will be granted after that date.
