How our Organs Influence Psychological Well-being: An introduction to Anthroposophic Psychosomatics

We are pleased to offer a live, two-part, online lecture series with special guest Dr. Guus van der Bie. His presentations will explore the ways in which formative activities of the major organs of the body (heart, kidney, liver, lung) are also at work in our consciousness and emotional life. These insights and methodology help explain the two-way streaming of body and psychology—for example, why some research studies demonstrate a higher risk of depression when someone has known coronary artery disease, with other studies showing a higher risk of heart disease when someone has a history of depression. We will explore these links.

Dr. Guus van der Bie is an anthroposophical General Practitioner in Holland. Previously a university teacher specializing in anatomy and embryology, he works part-time with Goethean Science at the Louis Bolk Instituut, teaching and writing. He regularly lectures to physicians, therapists, and medical students at Utrecht State University in Holland, as well as the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany. We are excited he can share his insights and experience with a North America audience.

Both sessions will be recorded and made available within 48 hours after the live session(s).
